With a proven track record as a State Representative, I have been unwavering in my advocacy for both my district and the broader community. Throughout my tenure, I have tackled an array of legislative challenges spanning education, healthcare, criminal justice reform, and economic development. Before assuming public office, I dedicated myself to grassroots involvement in community organizations and initiatives aimed at uplifting marginalized communities, fortifying my commitment to inclusive progress.

 

During my tenure as Vice Chair of the Housing, Community Development, and Veterans Committee from 2019 to 2020, I worked tirelessly to address housing affordability and ensure our veterans receive the support and resources they deserve. Concurrently, I had the honor of serving as Chair of the Black Members Caucus, where I championed policies to promote racial equity and justice.

 

In my role as Deputy Majority Floor Leader from 2020 to 2022, I facilitated critical legislative processes, ensuring that the voices of our community were heard and represented in every decision. My commitment to diversity and inclusion continued as Chair of the Member of Color Caucus during the same period, where I focused on amplifying the concerns and contributions of legislators of color.

 

Recognizing the importance of social equity in emerging industries, I co-chaired the Social Equity in Cannabis Task Force from 2020 to 2022. This position allowed me to advocate for fair opportunities and representation within the cannabis industry, ensuring that its benefits were accessible to all communities, particularly those historically marginalized.

 

Currently, as Vice Chair of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee for the session, I am dedicated to sustainable practices that protect our environment while supporting our agricultural community. My work in this committee underscores my commitment to balancing ecological health with economic growth.
